Stadium Review
- Nobody Does It Better
Celebrating a rare Buffalo Bills win
Ralph Wilson Stadium is a fantastic facility located in suburban Orchard Park, NY, not far from Downtown Buffalo.  Tailgating is a staple at Buffalo Bills games and can be conducted in all parking lots around Ralph Wilson Stadium.  The people are very friendly and approachable and the parking lot is alive with barbecue grills, fire pits, and beer kegs.  If you're lucky you might even take in an octo-funnel or two (see pictures below).  Parking at the stadium is $20 and can also be found in private lots around the stadium for as little as $15. Fans can camp overnight in a specially designated RV area the night before the game for a $40 fee.  The first year we went to Ralph Wilson Stadium to camp out on a Saturday night, we rented a U-Haul moving truck to sleep in ... we've since realized that an RV is a much more comfortable alternative. Even with the plywood lined U-Haul interior of those first couple of years, the plush accomodations, heating, and onboard bathroom facilities of the RV trumps the old U-Haul.  Still, I have a soft sport for the ingenuity of the couple U-Haul sleepover experiences.

I bought my Buffalo Bills tickets for this game before the season began through the Buffalo Bills ticket office.  It was a thrilling contest between the Jacksonville Jaguars and our hometown Buffalo Bills, but buffalonian savvy proved too strong for the visiting Jags as they fell 24-21 to the last minute heroics of one JP Losman and the right foot of kicker Rian Lindell.  Ralph Wilson Stadium is a phenomenal tailgating stadium.  I'd easily compare the atmosphere to a Green Bay, WI where 90% of you fans are tailgating in the parking lot rain or shine, hot or breath-takingly frigid.

Fans are electric about their hometown Buffalo Bills as the mood in the city changes based on wins and losses.  Water cooler talk on Monday morning always centers on a concentrated dissection of the Buffalo Bills play from the weekend before and the city of Buffalo has the best sports talk radio in the country.  Football is king in Buffalo and the city hosts some of the most knowledgeable, charismatic, and loyal fans in the league. If the Buffalo Bills ever managed to win a Super Bowl ... it would be pandemonium.

The Food
If nothing else, one has to try the traditional Buffalonian "Beef on Weck" sandwich as this is a staple of the western New York area and has been for many years. Beef on Weck is a warm prime roast sandwich served on a Kimmelweck roll topped with sea salt and caraway seeds. For the adventurous, true Buffalonians slather horseradish on their sandwich. Sometimes served with a side of beef gravy, the Beef on Weck sandwich can be purchased inside the stadium for the very fair price of $6.50. The other stadium standout is the Buffalo Wing Cheddar Cheese curds. Deep fried chunks of Cheddar cheese rolled in Buffalo's finest Buffalo Wing Sauce for $4.50.
