Ford Field is a fantastic, indoor, state of the art, Facility.  The seats are spacious, the concessions are reminiscent of Old European delis, and the Detroit Lions fans have a Kick-ass Detroit Lions fight song.  I have to admit, I thought it was very corny the first time I heard the announcer's baritone voice over the loudspeaker belting out the words to "Gridiron Heros". However, by the forth time the Detroit Lions Scored on the horrendous Bills Defense, I was humming the tune and screaming "Go Lions" at the end of the Detroit Lions Fight song with the rest of the fans.  Gridiron Heros actually dates back to the late 1930's and is one of the oldest fight songs in the NFL. 

Arrive early before the game as there is no tailgating in the city of Detroit, but fans gather at the Hockey Town Cafe for pregame libations.  The Hockey Town Cafe is located just across the street from the stadium and has an open air rooftop porch to enjoy the company of locals.

The Food
Ford Field's Stadium fare is not much to brag about.  Fans enjoy the standard overpriced concessions available throughout the rest of the league.  But for those interested in inebriation, Detroiters recommend the $12.00 yard of layered frozen margarita and Strawberry daiquiri mixes.  One is all you need to weather the storm of the inevitable loss.
