Premiere Pass Catcher : Randy Moss, New England Patriots Do you know what made Jerry Rice the most prolific receiver to ever play the game of Football? Joe Montana, Steve Young, and the West Coast offense. Talent in the National Football league can only take you so far. To excel, to be considered the GOAT, you need to be in an offensive system that makes the most of your talents. That is what Randy Moss has in New England with Tom Brady. At 31 years old, Randy Moss is in the prime of his career. He's lighting quick, runs superior routes, catches everything that's thrown in his direction, and he has the best quarterback in football to get him the damn ball. You do the math. Most Overrated Wide Receiver: Lee Evans, Buffalo Bills It pains me to say this, being the avid Bills fans that I am, and it's not a knock on Lee Evans but rather on the entire Buffalo Bills offense, but Lee Evans is the most over-rated wide receiver in fantasy football. The Bills can't seem to put it all together, they have a speedster in Evans that catches everything thrown his way, but can't find a quarterback who can get this guy the ball. Over the years, Evans has had opportunities to flash his rare ability, but when the quarterback carousel in Buffalo stops spinning (Bledsoe, Holcolm, Losman, Edwards), then maybe he can be a star. 2008 Fantasy Sleeper: Derek Hagan, Miami Dolphins The third year wide out has every opportunity to excel in Miami. Hagan is tall (6'2", 203lbs), athletic and has great hands. With the uncertainty at the quarterback position in Miami, not to mention the lack of quality talent at the wide receiver position, Derek Hagan will prove to be the cream of the crop in this wide receiver corps and a favorite target for whoever takes the reigns under center. Miami will showcase a strong running game and a rebuilt offensive line. They will also be playing from behind in most games allowing Hagan multiple opportunities to get his hands on the football. Sure to Disappoint: Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos This guy is a train wreck waiting to happen. In addition to his frequent run ins with the law during the entire offseason, Marshall is also recovering from a serious arm injury that resulted in a severed artery, vein, and tendons to five muscles, along with a damaged nerve in his forearm when he put his arm through a TV screen. Marshall is entering his fantasy-significant 3rd year at a wide receiver position on the heels of a sophomore season in which he totaled 1325 yards and seven scores. Although primed for a breakout season, he will be suspended three games by the league for violating Roger Goodell's new personal conduct policy. Based on his track record, I have serious doubts that he will be able to stay out of trouble long enough to start a significant number of games for the 2008 fantasy football season. I would avoid at all costs and let Brandon Marshall become someone else's problem. The Next Great Fantasy WR: Dwayne Bowe At 6'2", 221 lbs, with blazing speed and great hands, Dwayne Bowe is every bit the franchise receiver that the Kansas City Chiefs franchise has been searching for. The former LSU standout posted 995 yards and 5 touchdowns as a contender for the rookie of the year award that was given to Adrian Peterson in 2007. Bowe is on a Kansas City chiefs team that will be playing from behind in several games this season. If he gets reasonable play at the Quarterback position from either Brodie Croyle or Damon Huard, Bowe could have a breakthrough sophomore campaign in 2008. What I said in 2007 ... Premiere Pass Catcher : Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts The venerable Marvin Harrison, like a fine wine, only seems to get better with age. He is locked in as Peyton Manning's primary target in the most prolific offense in the National Football League. Marvin can do it all. He can get the crucial first down to keep a drive alive, make the circus catch on the sideline, and get in the endzone when the Colts are looking to pad their lead. Marvin Harrison is a consummate professional and for this reason my pick as the Premiere Pass Catcher or 2007.
