Stadium Review
- Behind Enemy LinesI was in Fort Lauderdale, FL for three days and decided a quick visit to Dolphin Stadium in Miami, FL was in order. Miami was a quick 25 minute drive from where I was, but unfortunately Dolphin Stadium was under massive construction after Super Bowl XLI and the security staff would not let me anywhere near it. Armed with my trusty tripod and a very adept camera man, I was able to secure the fine shots you see below. Dolphin Stadium is home to the Miami Dolphins and appears to be a fine facility from about 200 yards away. A statue has been erected to celebrate the accomplishments of Dolphin great Dan Marino, but unfortunately due to the construction, it was removed and i was unable to see it. The next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to catch a game. A trip to Southern Florida is not
complete without an airboat ride through the Everglades and some fine
dining on local delicacies, so I headed to Coopertown, FL
Population:0008 to meet up with Mayor Jesse Kennon to experience the
genuine article. An Airboat has a flat hull with an engine driving
a single prop to propel the boat through the Florida Everglades "River
of Grass". A 45 minute ride costs $19 and when followed up with a
deep fried frog legs and gator tail brunch, comprises the ultimate
Florida Everglades experience. On the tour there was a multitude of local
wildlife to be seen. The guides were friendly and seemed more than
familiar with many of the local birds and even some of the alligators.
Many of the animals came right up to the boat seeking a snack from our
guide, Christian. "Tastes like chicken," I thought as I downed the
platter served up in Coopertown restaurant. The froglegs actually tasted
like a tender chicken wings and the gator was a bit chewy, but in my
humblest of opinions, mighty tasty. Definitely worth the short
drive for a half day Everglades experience. |
